Downloading & Configuring the Windows 365 App
To install the Windows 365 app, you will need to first download it from the Microsoft app store.
1. Go to: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9n1f85v9t8bn?hl=en-US&gl=US
2. Then select DOWNLOAD from the options.
3. It will appear in the upper righthand corner of your browser.
4. Click on the downloaded file to install.
5. The file will begin to install on your pc. It may ask you for permission at this time. Select YES.
6. Once it has been installed, you will see a new icon on your taskbar. This is the WINDOWS 365 application. Click on it to open it and SIGN IN.
7. Sign in using your Signers National email address (Lamb, Convelo, etc…), password, and Okta verification code.
8. You will walkthrough 3 “Welcome” screens. Click Next or Skip, depending on your level of comfort. On the third screen, select DONE.
9. You will arrive at the CONNECT screen for the Windows 365 app. This will be your daily main log in screen to access your virtual desktop. Click CONNECT.
10. A WARNING dialogue box will appear, please read and click OK.
11. You will then see a Welcome screen with your name appear and a header at the top of your screen (like the VMWare VDI).
12. You will be asked to sign in again. Sign in using your Signers National email address (Lamb, Convelo, etc…), password, and Okta verification code.
13. Once signed in, another dialogue box will appear. It will ask you to “Allow my organization to manage my device?” Since this is a virtual desktop, you can select Yes, All Apps.
14. The next screen you will see is the system initiating and setting up your Account and your Device. This could take upwards of 20 minutes.
You also may receive an error message during this process.
You may need to restart your computer at this time and then restart the Windows 365 application as well.
To restart the Windows 365 app: Open the Windows 365 app.
Then, click on the three dots and then select RESTART. This could take a few minutes. Once it completes this action, click on CONNECT again. It may take a few moments to reconnect.
You may need to sign back in at this time or not.
15. At this time, it should open to your new virtual desktop and start asking you to sign in using your Signers National email address (Lamb, Convelo, etc…), password, and Okta verification code.
You will need to log into your applications and re-pin any frequently used ones to your task bar (Outlook, Excel, Word, Snipping Tool, Google, etc)
16. You may need to search for an app, you can do so by clicking on the Windows icon at the bottom of your screen and then type in the app you are looking for in the search bar.
Once you have found the app you need, you can right-click and then select “Pin to taskbar”
17. When you first open Outlook, it will ask if you want to use the New Outlook or Classic. If you choose New Outlook and find that you do not like it, you can go to Classic by going to the HELP menu in the ribbon and then selecting “Go to classic Outlook”
If you select the Classic option, you will need to close the New Outlook and it is important to note that you will need to setup everything as you had it in the VMWare, including your views, signatures, calendar, etc…
If you keep the New Outlook, it will “copy” your current configurations and signatures. It is missing some classic features, so it is up to the individual to make this choice.
18. Continue to open and log into your apps to make sure you have access to everything you need, including RingCentral, OneDrive, Applied Epic, etc…
19. IMPORTANT SMS: If you use SMS, you will need to SIGN IN to access the site
